Location for NELIG 2008

Possible Locations

I have added distance/driving time, according to Mapquest, from Tufts, just for a frame of reference. I also totalled the locations we've been to over the past 10 years: 3 in the south, 5 in the center and 2 in the north.

North:

*Peg Barrett: Keene State (Kenne, NH - we were there for the annual 2003)

From Tufts; 1hr 54m, 81 miles

12/13-- I just heard from Peg that their alumni weekend conflicts with this date so they are no longer interested. Too bad!

*Cynthia Crosser: Univ. of Maine (Orono, ME)

From Tufts; 3hr 50m, 234 miles

**Daisy Benson, Bailey/Howe Library, UVM. Definitely at least tentatively interested. We have a new Student/Conference Center that would be an ideal location.

From Tufts; 3hr 25m, 210 miles

South:

*Susanna Cowan and Kathy Labadorf: Univ. of CT. (Storrs, CT)

From Tufts; 1hr 42 m, 90 miles

]

*Diane Klare (tentative): Wesleyan University (Middletown, CT)

From Tufts; 2hr 5m, 119 miles

**Linda Knaack, Rensselaer at Hartford, Hartford, CT, knaacl2@rpi.edu

I am at least semi-interested in hosting. We meet all your requirements, although we're not especially centrally located.

From 02155; 1h 50m, 105 miles

**Mary MacDonald and Amanda Isenstark, (tentative), URI.

From Tufts; 1hr 41m, 84 miles

**Shelley G. Roseman, University of Connecticut, Stamford, Shelley.Roseman@uconn.edu

We would be able to use our “Large Auditorium”. We can meet all of the requirements and break-out rooms. http://www.stamford.uconn.edu/maps.htm.  I will warn you that there is often traffic to deal with when travelling.

From Tufts; 3hr, 12m, 180 miles

Central:

*M.J. Sobinski-Smith (tentative): Western New England College (Springfield, MA)

From Tufts; 1 hr 41 m, 92 miles

*From survey results

**From email from Laurie

Thoughts on Location

There was no feedback on ease of a central location from the 2007 event.  The thoughts of the committee was that typically we have the event in the north one year, the south the next year and then central the third year.  This cycle just get continued.  If this is the case, we want to focus on a location in New Hampshire or Maine.
